Version 0.0.2 release coming soon
Stacket's new release will be coming out within the next few weeks, hopefully this smaller release will bring a bit of traction.
The new features are mostly cosmetic and will become apparent on its release. Recently after a long conversation with an in-industry software engineer friend on whether I should have smaller releases or bigger ones, I made the decision to stick to bigger ones and I have two reasons:
1. Not burdening the users with features. Even with a smaller user base, Stacket is supposed to help support the ease of development, by offering a simple development methodology platform, overloading the user with new features won't support this mantra and for my sake it'll require updating my use-cases more often, and no one likes paperwork.
2. Easier data migration. Doing data migration for the boards will require a lot of effort. So I'll stick to doing these once every major release (if one is needed). This means those using older versions can continue using them, knowing specifically when their files will be updated (I'm also going to leave up all the old releases for those who possibly preferred a previous version).
I have plans for a bigger release version 0.1 by the end of the year, this will include the ability to set up a sprint-like selection of columns which will allow viewing of burn-down charts and the ability to archive old columns. I myself should apply more from these methodologies that inspired Stacket and I will attempt to start more regular releases in the future.
As a personal addition, I was thinking of adding musical burn down charts, which will have a specific jingle for each iteration, depending on whether you have completed the tasks you've set out you might get a nice tune or a not-so nice tune. Let me know if anyone has ideas like this, I'd love to take a more alternative route and add in some more idiosyncratic features!
I'm also going to be posting links to Stacket on Ludum Dare and possibly some other game jam sites, after the next release, to hopefully draw in some users and get some feedback.
